Name-Based Case Searches
Indiana MyCase is the main public search for non-confidential Boone Circuit, Superior I, and Superior II cases. Choose Search by Name when no cause number is known. The form accepts a last name, first name, middle name or initial, birth date, or business name. Exact spelling is the sound first step. A sounds-like search can help after an exact search fails, but a similar name alone does not establish that the result is the right person or case.
- Open MyCase and select Search by Name.
- Enter the last name, then add a first name or business name.
- Limit the search to Boone County, a court, status, or filing range.
- Compare the court, case type, filing date, and party role before opening a result.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last / Business Name | Text | Search basis | Use exact spelling first. |
| First / Middle / DOB | Text / date | No | Helps narrow common-name results. |
| Court and Status | Select | No | Choose Boone and All, Open, or Closed. |
| File Date From / To | Date | No | Limits results by filing date. |
Boone County MyCase Search Controls
The court selector changes which case types appear. Boone trial-court identifiers are 06C01 for Circuit, 06D01 for Superior I, and 06D02 for Superior II. MyCase lists these courts as using Odyssey since February 21, 2017. Zionsville Town Court, code 06I02, has a separate Odyssey history dating to November 14, 2013.
The official search guidance allows court, open or closed status, and filing-date filters. A broad query can return no more than 1,000 results. Narrowing by court and date is more useful than assuming the first name match is correct.
The official MyCase landing page explains that its public view may contain errors or omissions.
This view is an entry point to public case information, not a certified Boone County court record.
Case Number Searches
A cause number is the most precise Boone County docket search key. MyCase accepts a case number, citation number, or cross-reference, one identifier at a time. Hyphens and leading zeroes are optional under the official tips. The court segment matters: 06C01, 06D01, or 06D02 points to a different Boone court. Case-type codes such as IF, TR, SC, EV, or F6 then describe the kind of matter. A transfer can alter the number or split the history, so check cross-references and later transfer entries.
Boone County Search Fields
MyCase offers Search by Case, Search by Name, and Search by Attorney tabs. The case tab is best when a cause, citation, or cross-reference is known. The name tab adds party and date filters. Attorney search uses a name or attorney number. Each route reaches the same public Odyssey layer, but each starts with a different identifier.
The MyCase search form shows those paths side by side.
Choosing the narrowest known key reduces false matches and makes the Boone court code easier to verify.
Case Search Results Explained
A Boone County result leads to a case header and the Chronological Case Summary, or CCS. Read the court, cause number, case type, filing date, parties and roles, judge, and status before reading events from oldest to newest. A CCS entry briefly records a filing, order, ruling, setting, judgment, or other judicial event. It is not a hearing transcript, and its entry date may differ from the date an order was signed or a hearing occurred.
| Cause Number | County, court, case type, year, and sequence identifier. |
|---|---|
| Caption / Parties | Case title and each public party role. |
| Case Type | Code for the filing, such as IF, SC, EV, or F6. |
| CCS Events | Dated notes for filings, settings, orders, and disposition. |
| Status | Open or closed marker, which does not replace the event history. |
When Boone County Names Mislead
A name match is a lead, not proof. Compare the Boone court, filing range, case type, party role, and any birth-date detail the public view lawfully shows. Business names should be searched through the organization field. Sounds-like and wildcard tools can find spelling variants, but they can also widen the result set.
The Judicial Branch search tips explain the filters and the result ceiling.
When results stay uncertain, use the cause number from a notice or contact the Boone County Clerk before relying on a match.
Two Ways to Search: County and State
For Boone Circuit and Superior matters, the statewide MyCase portal is also the county's main online public path. There is no separate deeper Boone search database documented in the research. The local alternative is the Boone County Clerk's counter, phone, mail, or email route for an official file, a missing document, or a certified copy. Appeals move to the Indiana appellate search, while federal cases tied to Boone belong in PACER and the Southern District of Indiana systems.
| Statewide Portal | Boone County Clerk |
|---|---|
| Participating Indiana courts, including Boone trial courts. | Boone Clerk's maintained official court file. |
| Public case header, CCS, and selected documents. | Inspection, copies, certification, and records absent online. |
| Best for free orientation and cause-number checks. | Best for the controlling record or a specific document. |
Boone Municipal Docket Gaps
Municipal status can trip up a Boone County case search. Lebanon City Court, 06H01, was reestablished in 2024 under Administrative Rule 8, but it did not appear in the Odyssey participation list reviewed for the research. Zionsville Town Court is current and searchable. Whitestown, Thorntown, and Jamestown courts are abolished, although their old identifiers may remain in historical records.
For a municipal matter that does not appear, use the court named on the ticket or notice and confirm the current record custodian directly.
Do not treat a missing result as proof that no case exists. It may reflect a nonparticipating court, old court code, transfer, restricted case type, or document that is not posted.
Boone County Search Fallbacks
When MyCase does not supply the needed Boone County record, switch channels instead of repeating the same query. Lisa Bruder's clerk office maintains the official records for Circuit, Superior I, and Superior II. The office is at 212 Courthouse Square, Lebanon, IN 46052, with posted weekday hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The phone is 765-482-3510 and the posted email is lbruder@co.boone.in.us. Give staff the cause number, document name, and approximate filing date. Ask whether the item can be inspected, sent as a plain copy, or certified.
Mail and the clerk counter are direct routes. Phone and email can confirm the correct request process and current charge. The county APRA form can seek inspection, a paid copy, mail delivery, or PDF email when possible for a specific public record, but court access rules still control court files. State guidance also mentions public terminals, though Boone did not post terminal details. Call before making a trip solely to use one.
Different systems cover different layers. Indiana Appellate Case Search accepts a lower-court number and Boone as county of origin. Federal matters use PACER or the Southern District of Indiana, Indianapolis Division. A ticket can be checked through ePay with a UTT number, license number, or name and date of birth. These are not duplicate search screens. Each serves a separate court or payment layer.
Which Cases Stay Restricted
Indiana court records start with a presumption of access, but Rules on Access to Court Records exclude protected information and case types. Adoption, juvenile, protection-order, mental-health, sealed, confidential, and expunged material may be absent or limited. Some family records have no public online documents even when non-confidential information can be inspected in person.
A public account requires no registration. Parties and attorneys may receive enhanced access tied to their authorized role. If a needed Boone record is excluded, identify the exact cause number and record, then ask the clerk what Rule 9 request, court motion, authorization, or access form applies. The public search cannot override an exclusion.
For a certified copy or document behind the CCS, the Boone County court case records process explains the clerk routes and copy choices.
