County trial court, a current city or town court, or a historical municipal code: a Boone County case can trace to any of them, and the cause number, case type, and filing date decide which. Start with the official state case system for Boone County, Indiana to read the running public record of filings, settings, orders, and the result where those details are open. Then confirm key facts with the clerk in Lebanon that holds the court file. The path is not always obvious. A Boone County court docket search that reads the cause number first picks the right court.

Boone Court Codes First

The cause number tells you which Boone court holds the case. 06C01 is Circuit Court, 06D01 is Superior I, and 06D02 is Superior II. Administrative Rule 8 also assigns 06H01 to Lebanon City Court. It assigns 06I02 to Zionsville Town Court. The filing year and case-type segment separate people with similar names.

Quick check: A historic code is not proof that a court still operates. Whitestown 06I04, Thorntown 06I01, and Jamestown 06I03 are abolished. Keep the filing date with the code and use the issuing record or clerk to trace the file.

Enter the whole cause number whenever you have it. MyCase search tips allow optional hyphens and leading zeros, though you should enter only one case identifier at a time.

Court Dockets: What They Show

Indiana Trial Rule 77 names the official sequence the Chronological Case Summary, or CCS. It is a timeline of judicial events. It is not a story of every disputed fact. The clerk also keeps the case file. That office holds the Record of Judgments and Orders too, plus indexes, the judgment docket, and public receivables. Those records relate to each other but serve different purposes.

Cause NumberIdentifies county, court, case type, year, and sequence.
PartiesLists public names and roles.
CCS EntryRecords a filing, hearing, order, service, fee, or result.
SettingMay show date, time, court, officer, and hearing type.
DispositionShows the recorded outcome, not merely an accusation or claim.
DocumentsOffers only filings allowed for online public access.

Read the entry date and the hearing date as two separate facts. An entry can appear after the event it records. A reset just means a setting moved, not that the case ended.

MyCase Is Not Certification

MyCase is the public view of information from participating Indiana courts. It can find a Boone County case and track its public CCS. But it is not the certified file. Some documents exist only at the counter. Some only a party or attorney can see. Juvenile, adoption, mental-health, sealed, and other protected material may be hidden in whole or in part.

The Indiana case-type access matrix shows which document types may appear online. When you need proof, give the Boone County Clerk the cause number. Give the exact document name too. Ask whether a plain, certified, authenticated, or transcript copy suits your purpose. Certification comes from the keeper of the original record, never from a search-screen printout.

Boone County Courts and Their Dockets

Boone County runs three county trial courts plus municipal layers in Lebanon and Zionsville. Under the 2026 caseload plan, some subjects go to a named court. Other criminal filings spread out under a local rule. Search the court named in the cause number. Guessing from a broad case label leads people to the wrong docket.

Boone Courthouse Address Puzzle

Offices cluster around Courthouse Square in Lebanon, but they do not share one number. The clerk sits at 212 Courthouse Square. Circuit lists 310, Superior I lists 307, and Superior II lists 112. Knowing the court identifier keeps you from the wrong office or entrance. The official Circuit Court page lays out that court's jurisdiction and location.

Court Dates and Settings in Boone County

The Indiana Trial Court Calendars tool searches by county, court, date, case number, or name. Its stated range covers the past seven days and the next four weeks. Boone County may return no calendar nodes there. That does not mean Boone has no hearings.

Trust the newest CCS setting in MyCase. Then confirm with the court in the cause number. The clerk can route record questions by phone or at the counter. Superior I offers a recorded jury-status line, and Zionsville publishes a separate trial-date contact. The Boone County court schedule walks through the full fallback chain.

When Boone Calendar Results Vanish

An empty calendar result has several innocent causes. The court may not participate. The date may fall outside the display window, the search text may differ, or the setting may have changed. None of that proves dismissal. Check recent CCS entries for a continuance, reset, vacated setting, or new order. Then call the named court if attendance is in doubt. The Superior I page is one of Boone's direct court channels.

Docket Access Under Indiana Law

Indiana presumes court records are open, then layers judicial rules over access, remote display, and exclusions. The Access to Public Records Act covers many county agency records. Court-file access mainly turns on Indiana's Rules on Access to Court Records and its recordkeeping rules.

Key rules:

Access Rule 4 states the general policy favoring access.

Access Rule 5 identifies excluded records and confidential data.

Trial Rule 77 defines the CCS, file, RJO, indexes, and clerk duties.

Indiana APRA governs many administrative records but does not replace court rules.

A public CCS proves only what its entries establish, nothing more. Confirm the final entry and order with the originating clerk.

Boone Restricted Record Boundaries

Sealed cases, adoption matters, many juvenile files, mental-health records, and protected personal data may all be excluded. A public docket can note that an event occurred without exposing the protected filing beneath it. Drug Court, Family Recovery, Courts Intervention, Forensic Diversion, and pretrial supervision can each create court events while their service records stay outside the public case file.

CCS
The official chronological list of judicial events.
RJO
The Record of Judgments and Orders, distinct from the full file.
Confidential
Information withheld under rule even if other case parts remain public.
Sealed
A record closed by law or court order.

A true no-match and a blocked search are not the same. Ask the Boone County clerk which one happened, or fix your query.

How the Clerk Keeps Docket Records

Elected Clerk Lisa Brudder aside, the Boone County Clerk's office is the working archive for the county courts. It holds pleadings, motions, evidence, rulings, judgments, orders, CCS records, fines, fees, and certified transcripts. It takes walk-in and mailed requests. Its disposition form asks who you are, the defendant's name, and an optional cause number. It also names the document you want. The office's clerk page posts its location, hours, and payment links.

Boone Filing and Public Viewing

Boone County filings move through two systems. The Indiana E-Filing System carries documents to the court through approved providers. Odyssey stores the case-management events. MyCase then publishes whatever portion the rules allow the public to see. Filing something electronically does not guarantee the public can download it. A docket may show an entry but no image. The clerk counter or a public terminal still matters. Attorneys and many represented parties file this way. The state also publishes separate guidance for people without lawyers. No filing channel expands anyone's right to confidential material. The courts came online at different times. Boone Circuit, Superior I, and Superior II joined Odyssey in 2017. Zionsville's Odyssey date is 2013, with voluntary e-filing in January 2020 and mandatory initial filing in March 2020. Those dates explain where modern records live, but they do not erase paper-era files or their access limits. An older case may carry converted summary data without every document scanned. A brand-new filing can also sit in the docket as a CCS event before its public image shows up. So note three things when MyCase lists a filing but offers no document link: the entry date, the filing title, and the cause number. Then ask the clerk whether the document is public. Ask whether you can get it at the counter, on a terminal, by mail, or as a copy request. Do not ask the e-filing provider for access to a court file. That service transmits filings; it is not the court's public-record desk.

Boone Superior Court Divisions

Boone County splits superior work by subject. Superior I handles probate, estates, guardianships, adoptions, RF cases, and assigned work, while Superior II takes small claims, eviction matters, traffic infractions, and its own assigned cases. Under the criminal plan, rule-based placement governs some alcohol and drug matters, and the rest of the felony filings go out by random draw among the three county courts. The Superior II page lists its location and contacts.

Boone County Superior Court II docket

Let the label on the docket be your guide. Small claims usually points to Superior II and probate to Superior I, but the cause number is the fact that routes a case without guesswork.

Municipal Status Needs a Date

Some county pages still carry an older description of five municipal courts. Rule 8 tells a more exact story. Zionsville remains active. Lebanon was reestablished January 1, 2024. The current Odyssey listing omits it, and its public phone does not appear on official listings. Whitestown ended in 2020. Thorntown ended in 2022, and Jamestown in 2019. That is why a court name printed on an old ticket has to be read against its filing year. For an old record, work from the historical court code, the filing date, and the citation or cause number. For a new citation, follow whatever court the ticket itself names. A current town hall is not a live court counter unless an official source says the court sits there. Zionsville's current official page covers state traffic infractions, Zionsville ordinance violations, and Whitestown ordinance violations. That last category is a reason to check the issuing document before assuming a Whitestown matter belongs at the county courthouse. Lebanon needs its own caution. The Indiana Supreme Court's current rule says the city court returned in 2024. The Odyssey participation list does not show it. Treat that as an access gap, not proof the court is inactive. Confirm the court named on the citation. Use the Boone County Clerk only for county-file routing or a transferred record.

The official 2020 Census table ranks Boone County's five largest incorporated places. Each has a different route to its court records. Only Zionsville has a confirmed active town court with local public instructions. Lebanon has a reestablished court and an online-access gap. The other three keep their historical codes but no current municipal court.
